The comparison shots
I shot RAW with both cameras and used RawShooter Premium to develop the JPEGs. Again, this is not scientific by any means, but I was trying to obtain comparable shots.Skin
The Canon and more generally all CMOS-based dSLRs often are accused of "smoothing" away skin f details and giving unpleasing skin tones. The most common accusation is "plastic skin". I never really understood this, and generally blame it on camera defaults and personal taste. But see for yourself. Lighting was flash mainly. Me and the DS had problems focusing the right spot lus colour isn't a direct match. For what it's worth, here are the shots...

Colours
How do the cameras (re)produce colour? As during winter time, getting strong colours was a bit hard, I moved indoors. Sadly, I saw too late that the DS misfocused strongly. So this is only a colour-comparison, don't be fooled by the DS picture looking softer.

Lenses on FF/APS-C
Well, we all know the story that FF "needs" high quality lenses. See for yourself. Please keep in mind: This is not a scientific test. All shots were done from the same spot, using auto focus with the centre sensor. The shots with the Flektogon were manually focused, which is very hard to to with such a wide lens. Due to field curvature and imperfect alignment of camera+lens with the wall, this is really only a _very_ rough test. Also, please keep in mind, that a 50/2.8 on APS-C is equivalent to a 75/4.3 on FF. I present a comparison at equivalent settings after the individual test shots.Tamron 28-75/2.8 on Canon 5D
